How can people not realize these extra charges? Its not like your getting charged a few pennies extra. In some cases its like $50. I always made sure to look at my bill. For me tho I guess it was easy since my bill wasn't 20 pages long. When my bill wasn't close to what i paid the month before I went over it and compared.

I hate to say it, but many, many folks, including some in my own family, just autodebit their bills and don't worry about it. I scrutinize EVERYTHING on a bill, but some people don't need to or don't want to.... :-/

I learned the hard way several years ago about auto-debit. Don't do it! When I was still on dialup there was some kind of phone issue. My bill was over $200 and they tried to say I dialed to connect to the internet a really high amount of times. That was not the case. We got a print out and it was like I was dialing up every 30 seconds which just wasn't possible. It was hard to fight that bill because it was already "paid". Many phone calls and lots of time talking trying to get my money back. Never ever will I do auto-debit again.
I know some people who don't balance their checkbook either. Wonder how much they get taken for? I mean I assume when someone writes a check and it never gets debited from their account, it gets debited from someone elses. They can't all get "lost"

I will never auto-debit anything that is not a static permanent set price per billing period. So if the bill changes, I want to see the bill before I pay it. But if it's a set fee, that I can count on, once per month, and it's a company I trust, I'll set it up on autodebit usually.
