It's great for backing stuff up, photo hosting, syncing files between multiple computers. I also use it for a low budget development project with multiple users. We use it as a make shift version control system.

I just used your referal linc and joined.but it registered my pc.So unless one has a different pc it wont give you 2.it goes by pcs not emails.I think,but i could be wrong,as everyone saw with my wifi problem,although i am smart in some areas i am dumb in others.

I actually have 2 drop box accounts. This one is my personal one. I use it mostly for pictures, but also as a place to share misc files. The thing about "trusting" drop box is...that doesn't matter that much to me. I use it to keep 2 computers in sync. I upload pictures to dropbox with my phone, and they get synced to my wifes laptop and my laptop. Or I put them on my laptop myself, and they go to my wifes computer automagically. If dropbox went out of business, I would be sad, but all the files would live in at least 2 places. If my laptop dies, all the pictures are still on my wifes computer, and vice versa.

My other account I use on another laptop and sync with 4 other people. Its a software development project and we use dropbox for source control. It works incredibly well. It even keeps a history of all the revisions, so its relatively easy to roll back changes if you make a mistake. I make my changes in a separate folder, and then once they are tested, I sync to my dropbox folder with Beyond Compare. Once the files are in my dropbox folder, they sync to the cloud and down to everyone else's folders. When someone else makes a change, the reverse happens...
