Howdy. I'm new to the forum. Have previously tried ATT contract, Verizon contract, Tracfone on ATT and currently am using Net10 on ATT. I'd like to give Verizon prepay a try but with my choice of phone so here I am. My phones to date have been entry level dumb-phones but am aiming a little higher this time.
Not sure what I'm looking for yet but I'll know it when I see it, some sort of smart phone with qwerty key pad (prefer physical), WiFi, and decent camera reviews. As to plan, the T&T 1200 would be a good fit for my limited use.
I'm typically an infrequent forum poster but will be reading fairly often.

Wow, you left it kind of wide open... Welcome to the forums, too. You can pick up an original Droid, which has a slide out keyboard and a half way decent camera for well under $100 now. I use an HTC Incredible 2, which is a higher end Android, and it was plug and play. I have it on the TNT1200... Great plan. Another is the LG Ally, which has a slide out keyboard...

Welcome Aboard! We won't complain about the dog slobber if you won't complain about hairballs....
So far as phones go we love giving FREE advice. It's worth every penny you pay! Double your money back! *rimshot* I gotta million of 'em....
Ok, back to reality here... I like the Droid 2's with the Droid 2 Global my favorite. Sliding keyboard. Nice screen at 3.7 inches. 1.2 GHz processor. Of course it has WiFi. You can find them from $100 to $150 used if you look.
The Droid 3 can be good here to. More expensive as it is newer. $200 plus range for now, used. Bigger screen at 4 inches. Faster processor. Bigger keyboard. Overall a more capable phone in a few ways but also a bit chunkier.
DroidPro is the outlier here. Just don't see them as much however it seems to be a very capable phone. A candybar phone with a small Blackberry style QWERTY keyboard on the front. It has a smaller screen but you don't have to slide it open to use it. Still a fairly new and snappy phone. I am not as familiar with prices but should not be as expensive as the 3.
Original Droid is the budget special. Still a very capable and usable phone. Keyboard has flatter keys, slower processor. But still very good build quality like the rest, and good screen. Prices will be well below $100 for a nice used one.
All of these will do well on the TnT 1200. Just turn off the 3G data until you need it. Use WiFi as much as possible. You should be fine unless you watch YouTube all the time or stream Pandora

Thanks. I'm likely leaning toward a Droid2, 3 or Pro rated 9 but still reading reviews. 'course my mind changes direction like the winds. I'm currently using a LG900G which has a tactile keypad similar to the Pro.
There are 3 weeks and a ton of minutes currently remaining on the LG and I'd not hesitate to throw another two months on it while waiting. That being said, I'd drop it like a hot potato if the right phone comes along.

When you get the right phone, do an ESN change, and you keep the minutes and phone # on the new phone.

When the time comes I'm gonna let Kitty handle the number port for me but I'll loose the minutes as they are on Net10.
