New Posts, But There Are None

For the last several days, when I click New Posts, I keep getting a result where there really isn't a new post.

That fixes it for everyone, cool! When I see something like that, I normally just click on "Mark Forums Read" (after I've read everything) and it makes it go away for me.

Clicking "Mark Forums Read" didn't fix this one for me. Sheo fixed it, though!

Since Sheo fixed the last problem, maybe he can figure this one out.

Lots of times when I click New Posts, I see something like the following:

Results 1 to 3 of 14Why does it say 14? Only three results are displayed. Other times, the "of" number matches.

Instead of counting how many individual topics there are, count how many pages there are. It will equal that "of".

For example:

1213

If you count there is 11 individual topics. If you count how many pages it is, it should equal 30, the "of". And, as far as I can tell, Any page that is 2+ pages still only count as 2. Not anymore. So, each topic will either count as 1 or 2.

I have another hypothesis. Maybe the "of" is how many "unread posts their are in total. I will test this when some people start posting some stuff!

It doesn't seem like that is it, at least not in its entirety. There is also something else going on.

I was gone all day until now. When I got home, I clicked New Posts. I got the following:

Page 1 of 2

When I clicked on the 2 link, I got the following:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

So, this time, not only was the "of" number wrong, the forum software indicated that there were two pages of new posts, but there weren't.

Okay, I know for a fact that the 23 in your experience is how many individual topics there were. This is correct.

And, I believe that the of 51 means that you have in total 51 unread posts in them 21 topics.

Well, maybe, but not really. It is just weird. Especially that it shows two pages of new posts, but the vBulletin Message indicates that there are not. It happened again today.

Okay.. Maybe, the list can only show x amount of "of's" at a time. Let's say 40. After that it would say 2 pages. But, instead of there being topics each containing one unread post, maybe there are 23 topics with a total of 50 unread posts. This would mean it would "say" 2 pages of posts when in reality it is one page that contains enough to be 2 pages IF it were split 1 post per topic and 50 topics.

Disclaimer - I haven't read the whole thread.

Are you guys clearing your cache and deleting cookies and stuff like that? Are you comparing browsers and versions?
