Recently TMason68 and Micallen had a fascinating conversation regarding some phones that TMason68 was willing to sell or accept a trade for. Micallen's offer was interesting and I thought the conversation should continue even though the thread is closed. Herewith a recap and my 2 cents. Enjoy!

TMason68 - If you have already received a really weird PM from Micallen talking about a sex change operation (not sure if the operation mentioned him, you or a dog) plus a tired old worn out beagle, just disregard it. He missunderstood a suggestion of mine regarding your phones and his beagle. I never should have gotten involved. Let's just keep this between the three of us and never mention it again.

edit: Yep... I went back and checked. I think SMH is only out done by the Tracfone guy that has his "Wall of Tracfones" that he displays sometimes in his sig.

BTW, I do still have an overweight, 10 year old Beagle that I would trade for something cool. I'll throw in an 81 Honda CB 750 Custom (that has chaging issues and a small oil leak).

Maybe for 42" Flatscreen and a small box of hundred dollar bills.

Soooo...y'all are bashing on my color now. Not cool. My profile pic is now going to be pink (if I could find a pink cat it would so be on here), and next year my FF team will have pink uniforms w/hot pink numbers and helmets.

If I could figure out how to do it I would change the theme of the ENTIRE FORUM to PINK and you guys WOULD HAVE TO DEAL W/IT!

I was going to put it under the tree but hubby wanted to see it so I let him open it. He was like a little kid with a new toy. Then he went into his "man cave" and has not come out since. I know he's OK because I hear an occassional loud and enthusiastic "WOW".

I asked if he had sent you eBay feedback. He said he is toooo busy and could I do it. Then he said, "Never mind, I'll do it. If I let you do it there will probably be some snarky comment about cleaning beagle drool off it for 2 hours and he does not deserve that on his eBay feedback record".

He's a happy camper. We've run two errands tonight and he took it both times and had me do the driving so he could play. Boys and their toys...

OK, he thinks he broke it. Here he is.

Micallen, I was checking the settings and went into the "background" settings. I tried a few and then went back to Verizon_Theme. The fancy opening screen with the time and all the selections is gone. I can't seem to get it back. I assume that was the SMB menu. Can't find SMB in the Programs section. Any suggestions? -O. D.-

If you're talking about SPB Mobile Shell, I removed that before I put it on EBAY. The normal screen that you would see as a "home" screen is called "Titanium." It sounds like you've gone back to the generic Samsung user interface. Unfortunately, I can't remember without holding the phone in my hand, how to get it back.

I'll do some looking around to see what I can find out.

Thanks. We're looking for Titanium but have not found it yet. The menus are a bit confusing. Maybe it's time for him to break out the manual...men seem to hate doing that!

Some of the sub menus seem to be missing. For example selecting Settings results in a menu that looks nothing like the one in the Omnia manual. Select Text gives a screen with a message to "select menu and then NEW to start a new message", but there is no Menu button and no New button.

Since Mobile Shell is removed, is there any reason why I should not do a Hard Reset to get everything back?

Also, I found the Titanium download using Google, but it requires SDK Certs to be installed first. Is SDK Certs installed and would a reset remove it or leave it alone?

It looks different because it's been flashed to Win Mobile 6.5. That's where Titanium came from. I don't know about downloading Titanium.

I don't see what a hard reset would hurt. If all else fails, you can take the next step, and re-flash it. Flashing is fun (although scary the first time or 2).

I'm late to this thread, but I just want to know one thing. Did your DH sleep with the new phone?? My son always took new toys to bed....way into his late teens! I don't know if he still does. Anyway, it got me wondering if "adult" men do that.

Oh, and I didn't realize beagles were a valid form of tender on this forum. I've got one.....

I'm late to this thread, but I just want to know one thing. Did your DH sleep with the new phone??

No, but he stayed up until 1:30 playing with it! The cover of one of his old HP calculator magazines had a picture on the cover of a young couple in bed. The wife looks very bored/dissapointed/frustrated (pick one). The husband is playing with his new HP calculator and ignoring her. The clock on the bedside table says 12:30.

We can probably all identify with that since all the guys on here are techies to some extent. Remember that commercial that showed the wife doing the laundry while her husband went around the house with his new GPS unit writing down the coordinates and altitude of everthing in the house, including sitting on the toilet? That commercial, in my mind, typified the difference between men and women. Just sayin'....

I had the media player search for files and it found 142 music files. I figure it's your old music because one of them is the Godfather theme. You sure do seem to like heavy metal, or at least songs with a strong guitar lead. And yet "Long Cool Woman" was not on there. Fantastic guitar intro.

I thought I deleted all the music. The Godfather theme, however, was one of the ringtones.

I can point you towards several different ROMs you can flash. First, you need to find and download a program called Omnia_UMDL.RAR.

Oh, and yes, I am a fan rock and alternative. Plus, there may be a few songs still on there from Cardiac :)

I may not be able to offer the Beagle in trade anymore. I just spent the past 2 hours walking the streets looking for him. I have no idea how he got out, but he's scared of fireworks. And they are EVERYWHERE tonight. Not sure if I'm going to see him again. :(
