I'm still a newbie to smart phones. When you "subscribe" to something by texting a code to a number (as in the title to this post), is there a way to unsubscribe or are you going to get updates forever?

I found out today that you can text "follow PressSec to 40404" to follow Robert Gibbs (our version of Baghdad Bob) and follow his twitter posts wherein he struggles to put a positive spin on Obama's doings or lack thereof.

I have avoided doing any of those things until I know that there is a way out.

Use the LEAVE command to stop following.

With most subscribers that use short codes (numbers) keep in mind that some can be premium messages which (if) the request goes thru, will eventually come out of your cash balance.

In most all cases when subscribing to a sms service, wether free or paid, you can normally also text the word STOP to the short code to unsubscribe.

Yep stop works for most. Also they will usually have instructions with the very first text if it happens to be different.
