    Coverage change in Wisconsin?

    I have understood that our roaming coverage with Page Plus is the same as Verizon prepaid. Up until a short time ago, the map for Wisconsin on the Verizon prepaid map was the same as the map on the Page Plus website. The Page Plus map is the same as it was, but now, the Verizon prepaid map shows a much larger roaming area in Wisconsin. Am I correct in assuming that the home coverage area has decreased, but the Page Plus website map has yet to be updated? Has anyone noticed a decrease in home coverage anywhere else?

    ADDED NOTES BY KITTY:

    The area in purple is still valid native Page Plus coverage. The area in light blue, in the middle of Wisconsin, is now considered roaming.

    Any customers in Wisconsin that are impacted by this loss of coverage are encouraged to file a ticket with Page Plus by using this form to let them know.

    Unfortunately, we suspect this coverage in this area of Wisconsin is gone forever, as the Verizon network has been divested out of that area, from what we are told.

    This issue has been brought to the attention of Page Plus Management and their IT team is working on updating the Page Plus coverage map to ensure accuracy.

    You are most likely very correct, and the PPC coverage map has not been updated.

    We have reported this to PagePlus IT for updating.

    You should always, always, always trust the www.verizonwireless.com prepaid coverage map first. Here, below, is what we send to customers when they ask:

    ================================================== ====
    Dear Customer,

    I understand that you want to know more information about specific coverage in your particular area. You can always view the PagePlus Coverage Map right on our website, however, if you want to see SPECIFICALLY how coverage is in your area, we recommend that you check the Verizon Wireless Coverage Map by clicking the link below:

    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/C.../coverage+maps

    Once you click this link, type in your zip code and press SEARCH.

    Next, you must select the "Prepaid" option under the "Select Coverage Type" section directly below the map. The map should turn from red to purple.

    If your area appears in the purple area, you definitely have PagePlus Network coverage there. We cannot guarantee EXACTLY what kind of signal you will receive in any one given location. All I can really tell you is that PagePlus has EXTREMELY good coverage nationwide. I would be very surprised if your coverage was not very good.

    I hope this helps. If you need anymore assistance, do not hesitate to contact us.

    Thanks for choosing Kitty Wireless! We hope to be your chosen PagePlus Dealer!

    I just received some more details. This is from someone on another forum:

    "Ah, the element mobile market. Former alltel market- operated the network in this area as a joint venture with a local consortium, with alltel owning 49%. After the verizon buyout the 51% owners wouldn't sell their share so verizon divested the entire network to "Element Mobile" and now roams on CellCom.

    So yes, P+ users have lost native coverage in this area unless VZW does their own buildout."

    Are you in one of the effected areas, FT? We are waiting for PagePlus to address this issue. They obviously must have customers out there.

    I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone in WISCONSIN file a ticket using this form:

    http://www.pagepluscellular.com/Supp...%20Ticket.aspx

    To advise PagePlus of the issue - and ask them to respond.

    I live in NW WI and have noticed lately that my reception isn't what it used to be, but I thought it was just me. Per Kitty's advice above, I have filed a ticket and am waiting to see what they say. I will let you know.

    I don't live in the affected area, but do travel there several times a year.

    I noticed the other weekend that I was in a roaming area that was not roaming before. Also two "substation" buildings that used to have verizon on them no longer have anything.

    This is the response I got back from Page Plus:

    "Thank you for your e-mail. We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the phone on your account. We are not aware of any service outages in your area.

    Please dial *22890 (SEND) to program your phone.
    Unfortunately, for several reasons, we are not able to provide any troubleshooting assistance through email. Please contact PPC customer service from a different phone for further troubleshooting on your account."

    Hopefully, if enough people say something, it will at least bring it to their attention. How much pull does Page Plus have in this issue? I can't think too much if they're just using Verizon towers.

    I have noticed more issues with reception lately. What timing! I just got my bosses to switch over to Page Plus after telling them how great it has been for me for the past year. :{
